The University Students’ Association of Ghana (USAG), is the mother umbrella of all Universities in Ghana that seeks to ensuring the welfare of over the two hundred (200,000) University students across the county with the aim of promoting personal and national development.
USAG works at mobilizing and harnessing the human and intellectual potential and capacity of the University community and channeling them into valuable/positive projects and activities.
USAG’s mission is to contribute its quota, as an academic and intellectual community, to the national, continental and global development agenda through constructive engagement with the people, agencies and organizations which have a stake (direct or indirect) in the socio-cultural, economic and political growth, progress and transformation agenda.
Our current membership stands at 59 tertiary institutions with both private and public universities with 45 of them being very active members. The union is made up of diverse students regardless of their political, religion, gender, cultural background, political persuasion, ethnic origin, creed or social standing. USAG is wholly student run, autonomous, apolitical, and representative and operates in the light of democratic principles.
USAG was established in the year 2012 with the aim of creating a forum for students of accredited Universities and University Colleges in Ghana to meet and discuss issues of common interest and also to identify possible areas of concern to the society where students can contribute their quota together with the society in reducing the social cost and burdens of identified negative social phenomenon which usually impacts adversely on the socio-economic life of the inhabitants of the society.
Over the years USAG has been involved in Advocacy, Campaigns, Project initiatives and implementation, Information dissemination, and Capacity building programs that focus in areas including:
-
Health and Education
-
Youth empowerment and development

Poverty reduction and Gender Equality
-
Good Governance and Decentralization
