The National Union of Ghana Students led by H.E Tinkaro Asare Osei paid a courtesy call on the Director General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Hon. Nana Eric Agyeman Prempeh. The meeting served to interact with him and to deliberate on how the youth and students of Ghana can be involved in the activities of NADMO across the various tertiary institutions.

The President of NUGS, H.E Tinkaro Asare Osei was accompanied by the President of the University Students’ Association of Ghana (USAG), Mr. Kingsley Akowuah, the Ghana Union of Professional Students (GUPS) President, Mr. Justice Sarpong, Mr. Pius Nimako, General Secretary of NUGS, Mr. Shadrach Owusu, NUGS Coordinating Secretary, Mr. Eric Guggisberg, NUGS Financial Controller, Mr. Eric Osei Akoto, NUGS Project and Programs, Mr. Solomon Cudjoe, NUGS Education and Democratization Secretary, Miss Vida Owusu Agyemang, NUGS Womens’ Commissioner, Miss Rhoda Adu Gyamera, GUPS Coordinating Secretary, Mr Osman Samir, GUPS Project and Programs Secretary, Miss Nancy Adwoa Akwah, GUPS Women’s Commissioner.

The President of NUGS H.E Tinkaro Asare Osei advocated for the support of NADMO in the refurbishment of the NUGS Secretariat. The President of NUGS stated that the office is almost empty and not befitting the 52 years of existence of the National Union of Ghana Students and also the education of students in Ghana on disaster management at the Various Tertiary Institutions and Senior High Schools as well.

The Director General of NADMO , Mr. Eric Prempeh Nana Agyemang on his part encouraged student leaders to be cautious in their approach in resolving issues as well as their conduct in the discharge of their duties.

He also stated that;

the organisation will involve the student front in Ghana in their plans which includes an orientation for the Various SRCs and leadership of NUGS in the Country, the establishment of NADMO Clubs across all Tertiary Institutions as well various Senior High Schools and a tour of the various Senior High Schools to educate them on disaster Management.

The Union assured the Director General of NADMO of the commitment on the part of the Union in supporting such plans by the National Disaster Management Organisation since it will help prevent disaster especially at the various Tertiary Institutions.
