The First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Mrs Rebecca Akufo – Addo has admonished student leaders to prepare themselves well for future leadership positions so as to make informed decisions and contribution towards the development agenda of the nation.

Mrs. Rebecca Akufo – Addo made this known when leadership of National Union of Ghana Students, NUGS led by its President, Elisha Oheneba Essumang paid a courtesy call on her in her office in Accra to invite her to the Union’s upcoming Women Empowerment Summit 2018.

The First Lady challenged the youth to take charge of their destiny and be focused since the fortunes of Ghana’s future rest on their shoulders. She further cautioned the youth against social vices and activities that could have negative effects on their Education and future.

The destiny and fortunes of this country rest on your shoulders. As leaders of the largest civil society group in the country. You must position yourself and be resolute to contribute your bit in service to Ghana. As young people, you must refrain from all social vices that would prevent you from enjoying the best from your education

she added.

For his part, the President of NUGS commended the First Lady on the numerous projects and initiatives that her foundation has undertaken to enhance the delivery of healthcare in Ghana.

“On behalf of the National Executive Committee of NUGS, I wish to commend you for the great initiatives you have undertaken since assuming this high office. It is worthy to say that your foundation has within the past thirteen months in office made strives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare delivery in Ghana and we are pleased as a Union”.

He used the opportunity to officially invite the First Lady to deliver the keynote address at the upcoming NUGS Women Empowerment Summit on the theme;

“Skills Training: A Paradigm Shift towards Achieving A Ghana Beyond Aid”

and renewed the Unions assurances and commitment of the highest esteem towards the counsel and efforts by the First Lady.
